I’m back!

Hello you pretty people! I’m back from my holiday and unfortunately didn’t write a post last week because my body was dealing with jetlag plus an immediate start to work. On top of that, I had something like 50 episodes to catch up on, and as much as I know I could do that in a week easy, my job kind of got in the way of that. What I would have done to take last week off and just recover from my holiday! Anyway, I aimed to try and watch all the episodes of a show at once, so this week it’s just going to be an overview of what happened while I was away so please enjoy!

How to Get Away with Murder – E06, 07, 08, 09

Holy shit on a popsicle stick! The reason I’m starting with this show is that the mid-season finale was episode 9, which means that there are no more episodes till February 11th, and I think that’s enough time to adequately get over what happened in the last 4 episodes. I’m going to stay this now, there are SPOILERS so if you don’t want to read them, please scroll down till you see a gif of a kitten stretching and then you’re good to go. Anyway, where the hell do I start?! I feel like this needs to be made into a list so here goes:

  1. Nate’s wife, Nia, passes away after Nate gives her drugs however, stupid interfering Sinclair accuses him of murdering his wife. After a court case (pretty sure all the American taxpayers money is spent on stupid cases that Sinclair brings up), a nurse changes the blood tests results in Nate’s favour and he is released.
  2. Wes and Annalise have an altercation where Wes accuses her of Rebecca’s death and she says she has no idea what happened. She then tells him his lack of trust in women comes down to his mother’s suicide and we find out (a bit later) that Wes’ real name is Christoph and Eve and Annalise are somehow involved in his mother’s suicide. Oh and Annalise also says to Eve “It’s him”, which just adds another mystery, but also kind of explains why she’s almost motherly towards Wes.
  3. Sinclair has been blackmailing Asher into helping her, but he finally tells Annalise and Bonnie and they discover that she has an illegal bug in the house which gives her all the information she needs in her case. Annalise uses this to her advantage and owns Sinclair.
  4. Bonnie finds out (through that bitch Sinclair), that at a party that Asher had at college, the gang rape of Tiffany occurred at Trotter Lake. His father was involved in the cover up, and Annalise becomes involved in giving information to the DA which starts an investigation into Asher’s father’s corrupt background. The investigation eventually makes the man commit suicide in his office, shocking all, especially Asher.
  5. Bonnie finds out that Annalise told Asher about her sexually abusive relationship with her father and the two have an altercation (amazing acting from both of them, holy moly).

Ok here’s the interesting part:

  1. Wes, Laurel, Connor and Mikaela, with the help of Oliver, discover that there Caleb and Catherine have a half cousin, Phillip, who was born out of incest (guess that makes him a half-brother as well, ew). He kidnaps Olli, but they find him again and accuse him of having a motive to killing the Hapstall parents. He denies it and goes to the police to press charges. Nate forges fake psych reports to help him get arrested, gets fired in the process and Phillip is released. Wes somehow figures out that Catherine and Phillip know each other at the same time Caleb tells Mikaela that he found the murder weapon in Catherine’s studio. The next morning, Catherine runs away, (oh shit, doesn’t look guilty at ALL

Here comes the good part and clincher that puts everything together:

  1. Asher, tormented by his father’s death and mother’s rejection, is extremely distraught, meets Sinclair in a parking garage and runs her over, killing her instantly. He calls Bonnie, who helps him remove the body and they contact Annalise. At this point, Annalise is at the Hapstall house trying to figure out which sibling she should represent, seeing as one is guilty and the other is not. She sends Caleb away and plots a plan which involves framing Catherine for the murder of Sinclair and to cover it all up, tries to get one of the students to shoot her so it look genuine.

So at this point I’m sending mass messages to my friends on Facebook with all capital letters whilst trying to keep my jaw hitting the ground. Annalise has gone bat-shit crazy. She tries to get Connor to shoot and it almost destroys him, Laurel is the only sane one that says maybe they deserve to go to jail. Finally, she rounds onto Wes and tells him that Rebecca is dead and has been the whole time, which of course makes him furious. So he shoots her. In the stomach. Oh shit. Meanwhile, Frank finds and drugs Catherine, takes her to a forest and leaves her. But when the police get to her the next morning, she wakes up. THIS SHOW IS SO CRAZY, I CAN NOT DEAL. And now I have to wait till February  😦 I can’t even say that Viola Davis was the sole amazing actor in these episodes because everyone did a fantastic job and Shona Rhimes has outdone herself in terms of writing an intricate and totally gripping mid-season finale.

Agents of SHIELD – E05, 06, 07, 08

Ok so episode 5 was all about Jemma’s 4,722 hours on the other planet. On the planet, there’s no sun and there are these huge sand-storm things that threaten her life every once in a while. After a few weeks, she meets Will, an astronaut that has spent the last 14 years on this planet all alone. He was sent by NASA with some scientists to discover more about the planet, only to have them all go insane and die. So naturally, they stick together, hatch a plan to find another portal and escape, fail, get together and live happily ever after. But oh wait, Fitz is still searching for her, and manages to save her (as we know), so basically the reason Jemma is so intent on getting back to the planet is to save her new lover. Poor Fitz can’t catch a break!

Episode 6 and 7 can be smashed together because it was just one big story. Basically. Dr Garner survives the Hydra ambush because he is actually Lash, the Inhuman out to kill the other Inhumans. May finds out and tries to confront him about it and we find out that when he was reading through Daisy’s mothers ledgers, she had booby-trapped one with Terrigen and therefore exposed him (bitch). Coulson and Rosalind are in a “let’s trust each other and go to each other’s secret facilities” stage, and SHIELD finds out that the ATCU are keep Inhumans in stasis (kind of an induced coma) until they can find a cure for their abilities. Lincoln helps SHIELD realise that Lash is Garner, captures him with May’s help and out him in stasis and containment until they can find a cure for him.

Episode 8 was the big one, revealing a lot about what the last 7 episodes was about. The team hack into ACTU and figure out that the science division are creating Inhumans rather than saving/containing them. Coulson confronts Rosalind about it, who says that she has no idea what is going on because her business partner Gideon Malick is fully responsible for that area. In the middle of all of this, Fitz and Simmons finally kiss (wooooo!) and the poor guy cannot catch a break, knowing that even though she does love him, Will is coming in between them still. All this time, Ward has been busy and is trying to break into Baron Strucker’s vaults to find out more information about Hydra, but is caught by Malick. Malick then explains that centuries ago, an Inhuman was banished through the portal to the other planet and Hydra has been preparing for his returning by sacrificing humans through the portal as well as create Inhumans on Earth for his army when he returns. At this point, FitzSimmons realise that Will was sent as a “sacrifice” for the ancient Inhuman and the part of NASA that sent them on the mission was just Hydra with a different logo. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, but God damn Hydra, can you just go away?! The only good thing to come from this is that SHIELD and ATCU are together now and maybe, just maybe, they can stop Hydra.

Once Upon a Time – E05, E06, E07, E08, E09

So much to watch! I was going to try and do an episode by episode thing, but this show is so god damn complicated that I started writing it, and then confused myself so had to start all over again! So I’m just going to do a “short” summary and hopefully it’ll make sense :/

So basically what happened was that in Camelot, the heroes free Merlin and in order to free Emma from being the Dark one, they need to join the dagger and Excalibur together. For that, they need the Promethean spark and once the sword is forged, Emma is free and the Darkness is gone forever. However, in the process of doing that, Hook almost dies, so Emma tethers him to Excalibur, thus making him a Dark One as well and transforming her in The Dark One. Back in Storeybrooke, Arthur is stopping the heroes from doing anything, but Gold turns into a hero, removes Excalibur from the stone and Emma has a chance to forge the dagger and the sword to get rid of the Darkness. To do that, she gives Zelena a premature birth, and tries to get her Darkness and Hook’s into Zelena and then kill her, thereby removing the Darkness from both of them. However, by the end of episode 8, her plan is foiled and Hook is feeling betrayed and hurt and Zelena has all the power.

Amidst all of that, we get the back story for Merlin and Nimue, his first love. After drinking from the Holy Grail, Merlin gets magic and becomes immortal but is willing to give that up for a life with Nimue (How sweet?! And pretty much the premise for every single immortality story). Nimue, after finding out that her family has perished that’s to a bad guy who’s name I can’t remember, she drinks from the Holy Grail and then kills him, making her the 1st ever Dark One and the one who entraps Merlin in tree form. We also get Merida’s backstory where in episode 6, she gets Belle’s help in Camelot/DunBroch land to help save her brothers and become Queen and in episode 9 where she needs to find her father’s magical helm in order to save the clans and become a Queen. Both stories are interesting (I LOVE the actress they got for Merida!) but episode 9 was super awesome because Mulan and Red are back! Basically Mulan trained Merida, so Merida enlists her help to get her father’s helm and in doing so, find and rescue Red from a witch. Now I’m all for LGBT rights but I have no idea why they decided to make Mulan gay. I mean, we’ve all seen the cartoon Mulan, and she was straight in that, why change it? Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the original story line now that Hook knows about Emma…

Quantico – E05, 06, 07, 08

Ah I missed this show so much too and it was the first one I watched when I got back! Let’s go through episode by episode, but skip to the gif of Andy Dwyer if you don’t want spoilers!
In the episode 5 flashback, the recruits go undercover at a function with made up identities, we discover that Asher has secrets about when he was in the Israeli Armed Forces in Gaza and he reveals everything to Elias. Meanwhile Caleb and Shelby sleep together as do Alex and Ryan (again), so happy times for all. In the present, Alex gets help from The Unknown and releases a message on the internet saying that she’s innocent, but we also hear about when she travelled to Pakistan and Iran and got involved with someone called Amir… What is going on woman?!

In episode 6, everyone finds out about everyone and it’s just an eye opener episode for all. In the training facility, all the recruits find out about Miranda and her son, Alex finds out about the secret operation that Liam was running with Ryan to get close to Alex and Simon finds out about the twins and freaks out so they lock him up in their bathroom (good decision ladies). In the future, we find out that Ryan’s father, Deputy Director Clayton, has been in an extra-marital affair with Shelby (gasp, dramaaaaaaaa!) and they’re still trying to find Alex.

In episode 7, the recruits are put through a test and the last task involved a (fake) bomb. After the test, Elias leaves because he fails to pass the test but Caleb is reinstated as NAT because of the his willingness to die with the rest of the team. As a reward for passing the test, the twins, Nimah and Raina, are revealed to the rest of the recruits and Ryan is reinstated as a Special Agent with a case. In the flash forwards, Simon and Alex find one of the twins at Grand Central station and after finding out where they are, they reveal that they have infiltrated the terrorist cell across the road but Nimah has not contacted Raina for an exchange again. However, in the middle of retrieving both twins, the FBI come to the house and there is a massive shootout, where Ryan gets shot. Vasquez, who is suspicious of Ryan being in contact with Alex, allows Ryan and Alex to escape but keep a tracker on them as they flee.

Finally in episode 8, we find out that Shelby is in contact with her half-sister in the Middle East and Caleb was part of a cult which his father protected him from. Thanks to Ryan, Alex gets more information about her father from Liam and Miranda gets shot by Charlie (we think) after she tries to make things right with him. In the flash forwards, Alex performs surgery on Ryan to get the bullet out of his stomach and with the help of The Unknown, get him to safety via helicopter. Caleb is instructed by his dad to erase all traces of his relationship with Shelby but this leads to Caleb (and Alex) finding out that there is evidence collected that can free Alex. She also realises that Grand Central as a trial-bombing and hands herself in hoping to help the FBI catch the terrorist before the next attack. There’s so much going on, I literally can’t even right now.

The Flash – E04, 05, 06, 07

I love this show so much!!!! No seriously, love it. I was forewarned by my family that the episodes were better than Arrow and I have to agree. Episode 4 involves rebuilding Firestorm with a star football player who has the same gene markers as a slowly dying Dr Stein. Amidst all of that, Iris’ mum says that she is dying, but Iris doesn’t buy it, revealing that her mother has another son that may or may not be Joe’s child and she just tells her to leave and get out of their lives (it was an amazing scene and made me so happy). Oh and Harrison Wells is back.

LOL I’m just kidding. But not. In episode 5, we find out that the Harrison Wells from Earth 2 (let’s call him Harrison 2.0) has come to Earth 1 to help the Flash take down Zoom. Harry 2.0 also finds out about Cisco, and reveals it to the team who are supportive and give him a cool name, Vibe. There’s another meta out to get Flash called Dr. Light, oh and guess what? She looks like his ex-girlfriend, Linda Park. To top it all off, Barry and Patty go on a date and Caitlin and Jay have a romantic stake out. CUUUUUUTE. In episode 6, they plan to use the actual Linda Park to lure Zoom into this Earth so that they can take him on but h doesn’t respond. But turns out their plan works because Zoom comes and proceeds to completely destroy Flash. And when I mean destroy, I mean break-Barry’s-back-so-he-can’t-feel-his-legs destroy. Oh and Cisco takes advantage of his new found powers and discovers that Harry 2.0 has a daughter that is being held captive by Zoom on Earth 2 giving us his motive for helping Flash. Now episode 7 was a little bit meh, but still interesting enough. Grodd kidnaps Caitlin and wants her to create “more Grodd”. Meanwhile Barry is being a sooky-sooky about losing his powers so Iris calls Henry back and after a pep talk and some good words, Barry (with the help of Harry 2.0) get Grodd to leave through a portal into a world where he can live in peace. Nice ending for an alright episode, I guess they had to tie up that loose end at some point.

Doctor Who – E07, 08, 09, 10, 11

So these episodes were a little bit better than the first half of the season, thank the writers! Episode 7 and 8 were a double that related back to the 50th anniversary episode with the Zygons and the Osgood’s. Clara was back for the episodes and I have to say, Jenna acting really well as an evil Zygon! Highlight of the two episodes was the classic Doctor speech that hadn’t happened in a while, which just shows that words can be more powerful than actions. Peter really showcased his acting abilities in that scene and it was refreshing to see yet another Doctor use logic and words to convince people not to do something. Episode 9 was a little but headachey to watch because it wasn’t a traditional held camera approach, but it was an interesting episode involving the sleep-dust that collects around your eyes when you sleep (safe to say, I’m terrified of that stuff now). Episode 10 and 11 are the first two episodes in a trilogy of episodes (can I use trilogy in that sense?), which starts with Rigsy calling the Doctor for help. Maisie Williams returns in this episode, which I did not enjoy at all, and ends with the death of Clara. And you know what? she went in a way that was perfect for her character. Without giving anything away, she realises that there is no way out of her death, comforts the Doctor and is brave and takes her death on head first. The writers didn’t really linger on her death very long, and I think this was a good decision, considering that is what Clara was like as a character. Stuff happens and you move on, “Run, you clever boy and remember”. In episode 11, the Doctor has been transported to an unknown location 7000 years in the future, and is trying to escape but finds himself caught in an infinite loop where he wakes up, tried to escape by breaking the Azbantium wall, gets killed by the veiled creature and then wakes up again and does the whole process again for 2 billion years. Finally he escapes and find himself stepping out of his own Confession Dial into a desert near Gallifrey. This was an awesome episode solely resting on the shoulders of a very capable Peter Capaldi and boy did he do a good job J

So turns out this blog post was a liiiiiiiittle bit longer than usual, but I hope you enjoyed it and I’ll hopefully see you next week!
