Hello lovelies! I just wanted to start this post by letting you know that this will be my last post for a few weeks 😦 I’m off to do a little bit of adventuring in South America for three weeks and unfortunately, the chances of me being able to find good enough Wifi from Starbucks and McDonalds to watch my TV shows are very slim. So this week will be my last, and then I’ll get back and aim to watch as much as I can and continue where I left off. Just FYI, if I get any spoilers about How to Get Away with Murder over the next month, be prepared for my wrath. But enough about that, let’s get started!
My favourites for this week are:
How to Get Away with Murder E05 – I’m going to be so deprived the next few weeks because I’m not getting my weekly fix of this show. God, this week was good! There was a lot about Bonnie and the insight we get into her past at the end of the episode is literally SHOCKING! It does explain a lot about her character, but doesn’t quite explain Annalise’s bipolar interactions with her, ranging from “You’re pathetic, why do I trust you” to “She’s my little baby, and I want to protect her”. Make up your mind, woman! In other news, Asher is just so confused this entire episode and Connor, Mikaela and Laurel are starting to turn on Wes and his obsession with finding out what happened to Rebecca. Come on guys, you have to stick together!!!!!
NCIS: LA E05 – I could kiss the writers for this week’s episode! They gave a perfect example of a serious show that can also showcase some good humour and chemistry between the actors, and I think that once in a while, serious shows need a bit of laughter. I watched this episode on the bus on the way to work (judge me all you want) and I was literally giggling to myself because the suspect was ridiculously stupid and funny. Dinozzo (from NCIS) comes to the LA branch to catch the suspect, and toss in a bit of Kensi/Deeks adorableness and a suspect that is so ridiculous and you have a pretty funny episode. I will have to say that I am very easily pleased so many of you might not actually find it funny, but now you can’t say that I didn’t warn you!
The Big Bang Theory E05 – Finally a funny episode! I don’t have much to say about it because the boys learn to fence, and that’s a funny enough scene to picture in your head. I’m just glad I can finally put this show as a favourite for the week, because it’s been a bit slow in terms of really making audiences laugh. And I know I’m not the only one that thinks this, I’ve had a few discussions over the last few weeks as to how the show isn’t as funny as it used to be. But hopefully it picks up from here!
The Flash E03 – You know how, when you were younger, you dad would do something trivial that would make you think he was the worst dad ever and it just wasn’t fair? Well think again, because Captain Cold and sister, Lisa Snart, have to give their dad a mug that says “Worst Father of the Year”. You know Lewis Snart is bad when you start sympathising with the original bad guy who isn’t that bad anymore. There is one more thing that I really liked from this episode which is definitely worth mentioning. Joe’s wife has returned to Central City to meet Iris, and Joe tries to get her to go away. Now, usually there are two things that happen in this situation (I’m looking at you, Arrow writers). Firstly, Person A (the secret holder) doesn’t tell Person B about the secret and so it sits there festering and just become worse. The second thing that happens is Person B finds out part of the truth, and then proceeds to be angry at Person A and it’s the usual “you lied to me, you betrayed me, I will never trust you again” speech. HOWEVER, in a miraculous turn of events, Joe tells Iris everything, explains his situation and apologises for keeping her mother a secret. But wait, there’s more! Iris actually acts like a smart and empathetic adult who understands Joe’s decision and forgives him for lying to her and now has the knowledge to decide what she wants to do about her mother. This, people, this, is what happens when adults communicate and writers know that there doesn’t always have to be copious amounts of drama to make a show good.
Agents of SHIELD E04 – We finally got to the May/Hunter versus Ward stand-off that we were waiting for (though Hunter was an idiot and it totally didn’t go as planned)! Ward pulled out a truly evil card though, and they left it at a bit of a cliff-hanger. Now I’m a “glass half full” kinda gal so I think that a certain someone could still be alive but what do I know? I read A Dance with Dragons and it didn’t even occur to me that Jon Snow getting stabbed could mean his death, until I saw the scene in Game of Thrones. The rest of the crew is finally getting somewhere with the Inhuman that is killing off other Inhumans, and it kind of sounds like a pity murderer, but again, who knows. WE NEED MORE INFORMATION!
Quantico E04 – We found out so much stuff in this episode that my brain was about to explode, but in a totally good way. In the flash forwards, Asher is working to catch Alex undercover but gets turned by Ryan to help Alex, and after an altercation with Shelby, Ryan and Asher are back at the FBI hub and Vasquez is very suspicious. In the current time frame, Alex goes a little rogue in the week’s activities, and Liam decides that it’s time for Alex to leave the FBI. Ryan starts questioning why he’s doing stuff for Liam when it’s off the record, and turns out that he’s on probation (what did he do that got him on probation???!!!!). And another bomb shell dropped on the show – we find out why Miranda’s son is in jail and it’s a doozy. And that is why I enjoy this show. Not only is Alex hiding something, but every character is a little bit shady and you truly don’t know who the terrorist is. My best bet is Liam at the moment, he’s a little shadier than the rest and I just don’t like him.
Dishonourable mentions:
Doctor Who E06 – I don’t know what is happening with this show! This week was a continuation of last weeks and it was, frankly, disappointing. I know that Maisie Williams is a hot-shot on Game of Thrones, but having her on this show made no difference and I hate doing this, but watching her in another role made me realise that she’s not that good an actress. I didn’t want to talk about acting skills on this blog because I don’t want to attack actors, so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she’s still young and Game of Thrones was her first role so she still has a lot of potential. Apart from Williams, the episode was totally meh which is so sad because this show was the best! Clara wasn’t in the episode, and the Doctor was trying to be funny in parts but it really didn’t do it for me. From the previews, it looks like next week will be better, but who knows, this season has been totally average.
Supernatural E03 – It really breaks my heart to put this in the dishonourable list 😦 Little, evil Darkness Amara is sucking souls left, right and centre and Crowley is not dealing very well with his growing girl. Meanwhile, Cas is still going crazy and Dean and Sam find Rowena to reverse her spell while she tries to recruit for her mega-coven. Eh, even though Jensen Ackles directed the episode and it was ok, I get the feeling that this entire season is going to be in the dishonourable list because I’m just so over it.
And the leftovers: Bones E04 (Betty White guest stars and that’s reason enough to watch!), Arrow E03 (Laurel is stupid, and there’s a super cool metahuman), NCIS E05 (Abby is trapped in a hostage-like situation and is bad-ass), Scorpion E05 (they wore superhero costumes, enough said), Castle E05 (Espo and Ryan are making up for the lack of Castle/Beckett banter, and I’m totally fine with that) and Once Upon a Time E04 (Team Snow/Charming are awesome but now everyone has to look out for the magic sand).
So now it’s time for me to say bye for a little while: peace out homies!
